‘Crossbow killer’ Kyle Clifford’s woodland hideout where he was found with self-inflicted chest wound

THE Sun has uncovered the woodland spot in a cemetery where triple murder suspect Kyle Clifford was hiding while a huge manhunt for him was underway.

Clifford, 26, was snared by cops near the headstones in Lavender Hill Cemetery in Enfield, north London on Wednesday afternoon after suffering a serious self-inflicted injury.

Officers spent two hours scouring the 20-acre Victorian graveyard – metres from Clifford’s family home – after his car was discovered outside.

The former soldier was found around around 4.30pm, with the help of a heat-seeking infra-red camera on a police helicopter.

Footage showed him being taken away on a stretcher and put into an ambulance.

He is understood to have undergone emergency surgery for a chest wound at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel and remains in a serious condition.

The cemetery, which was cordoned off by police until Thursday, reopened yesterday.

There are signs of debris, including medical gloves, in front of an overgrown clearing in the trees near the Cook’s Hole Road entrance, where the ex-soldier is thought to have gained access.

A small opening in the bushes leads into a large wooded area, where the greenery has been trampled down from people walking across it.

It is in this shaded woodland where Clifford is thought to have waited while cops were hunting for him.

Maintenance workers were out cutting the grass and tidying the area yesterday morning.

Clifford has now been arrested after BBC star John Hunt’s wife and two daughters were allegedly murdered at home.

A huge manhunt was launched for Clifford, 26, following the triple horror in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on Tuesday night.

Carol Hunt, 61, the wife of BBC star John Hunt, and two of their daughters, Louise, 25, and Hannah, 28, were allegedly tied up before being killed.

Clifford, who had previously dated Louise, was snared in a dramatic raid in a cemetery in his hometown of Enfield on Wednesday night.

The former private was rushed to a major trauma centre with suspected self-inflicted injuries but has now been formally arrested.

Detective Superintendent Rob Hall said: “Our thoughts remain with the victims’ family at this tragic time.

“The investigation is moving at pace and as a result, we have now arrested a man. Enquiries are continuing at this time.”
