She revealed that her go-to technique is scent layering.
While it’s easy to smell good, it’s more difficult to do so without assaulting people’s noses.
“I think this is legit the only way to always smell good without it being overwhelming,” she said.
The trick, she explained, is to purchase scents within the same family.
“As much as you can, buy ALL your products in one scent,” she said.
“I do vanilla myself, so when I’m choosing anything, hair products, chapstick, lotion, shaving cream, etc., if there’s an equivalent or option for a vanilla scent, I choose it,” she explained.
If no scents align with existing products, she recommended opting for unscented buys.
“This makes you smell consistently like one thing, but multilayered, almost as if it’s your natural scent,” she said.
The most important thing, she added, is to not go overboard with any one fragrance.
“As long as you use actual perfume/spray SPARINGLY, you won’t be choking people to death,” she said.
Others agreed that scent layering is the biggest key to smelling great.
Not only that but layering multiple products helps extend the longevity of the overall scent.
“Well, of course, start clean,” said another.

“So, you might find a nice set with a body wash, a lotion, and a bottle of scent…some even have a powder; using those items carefully (so as not to have an overpowering scent) is [the] key to having staying power.
One perfume enthusiast shared a trick that helps them extend the life of their daily perfume without much effort.
“[Apply] unscented lotion on your wrist/neck and a spritz of perfume on top to make it stick!” they said.
Another added that the formulation of the perfume matters when it comes to staying power.
“Roller perfume oils instead of perfume sprays stay much longer for me,” they said.
