BRITS can look forward to enjoying a glorious weekend scorcher as temperatures hit 23C for the Euro final.
The Met Office has forecast a brighter outlook on the horizon following dismal drizzles and below-average temperatures.
Thunderstorms wreaked havoc across the north of Britain yesterday after a yellow thunderstorm warning was issued for western England and most of Wales on Tuesday.
But, as the nation prepares to watch England clash with Spain in the Euros 2024 final on Sunday – a BBQ could be on the cards.
Spain booked their spot in the huge final first after narrowly beating France 2-1 in a thrilling last-four game.
The Spaniards will face England after Ollie Watkins’s 90th-minute winner completed a stunning turnaround last night.
England skipper Harry Kane equalised minutes later from the penalty spot.
Met Office forecast Aidan McGivern said: “On Sunday, temperatures are closer to average, it’s warming up slightly, it will feel more humid in the south when the sun comes through, 23C.”
Elsewhere figures are set to hover between 18C and 20C across much of the UK.
Brits are still likely to see some cloud cover and scattered showers despite it feeling warmer, however it is set to remain largely dry.
Met Office meteorologist Liam Eslick forecast cloudier skies in the north, while there will be patchy rain across eastern coasts.
He added that Sunday will be “another day of sunny spells and slow-moving showers but cloudier with more prolonged rain in the North East”.
The Euro 2024 final kick-off will be at 8pm BST and broadcast live on both BBC One and and ITV1.
Today, wet weather is due to fizzle out across Scotland and Northern Ireland, with “warm sunny spells”.
However, a band of rain is predicted to pass through central parts with some showers in east Wales and the Midlands.
Some “warm sunny spells” are to be expected in north west Scotland.
Mr Eslick added: “Rain and drizzle over Scotland will die out through the day but a band of patchy rain moves southwards across northern England and Wales and central England, breaking into showers later.”
By Friday, conditions remain largely dry despite “relatively cloudy and cool”.
However, there will be patches of heavy rain in the far south east, and as the day continues local areas on the south west coast could see up to 50mm of rainfall in six hours.
Intermittent showers are forecast on Saturday, while temperatures remain lower.
It comes after areas in East Anglia, the Midlands and the south-east, have seen around a month’s worth of rain already.
Northolt in west London, was battered by 66mm of rain in the first week of July – 139 per cent of the total that would be expected in the entire month.
Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern explained the “unsettled weather” and “unseasonably low” temperatures.
“Much of the variability depends on where the jet stream sits and this summer so far it has often been defaulting to the south of the UK,” he said.
“This means the UK has been sitting on the cool side of the jet stream and we often see low pressure.”
Next week is likely to hold more unsettled weather as a front arrives from the Atlantic, bringing rain to the North West of the country while the South sees showers and some sunny spells, the Met Office said.

Rain moves across eastern areas on Saturday with showers elsewhere. Showers, mainly in the east, on Sunday. Drier and brighter with sunny spells on Monday, with a few showers later.
