MENANDS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A new symbol of remembrance flew over Menands on Wednesday. A large American flag flying off Route 787 is meant to honor fallen service members.
It was raised by local veterans and the families of New York National Guard members Casey Frankoski and John Grassia, who died in March in a military helicopter crash in Texas. Texas officials have now closed their investigation into the crash.
The Starr County Sheriff's Office said no criminal charges will be filed. There is also a separate safety probe from the U.S. Army.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
