Nigel James Jr., a four-star in the class of 2025, will announce his college decision next Tuesday, July 16, at 5 p.m. ET between Rutgers, Marquette and Georgia Tech, he confirmed on X Wednesday.
The 6-foot-2 point guard out of Expressions Elite AAU and high school powerhouse Long Island Lutheran, took official visits to Marquette and Rutgers last year.
He previously broke down all three schools to ZAGSBLOG:
Marquette: “Great program, great coaches. I’ve talked to coach Shaka [Smart], the head coach a lot. Talk to him almost every day. And coach Cody [Hatt] too, talk to him almost every day. Great relationships with them, great people. And I love the school. It’s a great school.”
Rutgers: “My friend Dylan Harper is going there, and my other friend Bryce Dortch is also going there. But I have a great relationship with coach T.J. [Thompson], coach Steve Pikiell. I took a visit there. It was a great school, great atmosphere. I liked it a lot. They just want me to be someone who can come in and impact right away.”
Georgia Tech: “I’ve talked to coach [Karl] Hobbs, coach [Damon] Stoudamire too. It’s a great school and I talk to them everyday.”
James’ Expressions Elite coach Ken Jackson summarized some of the young guard’s best abilities.“Nigel is a guard of all service,” Jackson said. “Standing 6-foot-2 with growing athleticism, he can run your show and get others involved with the best in the country. He can play uptempo and off-ball consistently and be a scoring threat from all three levels. He’s nearly impossible to stop off ball screens and in transition.”
