Inspiration for dinner can come from the most unlikely of places. A craving for a specific dish, a sale on a seasonal produce, whatever you can find in your pantry without running to the store. But Giada De Laurentiis’ latest recipe inspo came from something completely different: a daydream about her favorite cocktail! She shared the cute video and recipe on her Instagram recently, and fellow chef Ree Drummond (AKA, The Pioneer Woman) even wants to try it!
“It’s so nice to sit back and relax with a dirty martini after a long week,” a text bubble over De Laurentiis’ head pops up on the screen in a new video. She’s lying on a chair in a maroon cocktail dress, sipping on a dirty martini.
As she sips and chews on her green olive, she thinks about bringing “something new” to her pasta dishes to keep her customers happy. “What do I love? What do I enjoy?” she asks herself. Aha! Dirty Martini Pasta!
The Italian chef then demonstrates how she makes this savory dish in the video, with full instructions linked on her Giadzy website. She starts by draining, smashing, and chopping Cerignola olives, which she calls “the star of this pasta.”
From there, prepare a breadcrumb topping with panko breadcrumbs, Italian parsley, and other ingredients. Now you’re ready to cook the pasta! Use a large pot to boil the noodles while mixing some ingredients in a large skillet. With the help of a pasta spider, transfer the al dente noodles to the pan with the olives and other ingredients, topping with oil, toppings, and more until creamy and delicious. Serve the breadcrumbs on top and to finish the fabulous dinner (which you should definitely serve with another cool martini!).
To make this dish even easier, De Laurentiis is selling a seasonal ingredients box with the Dirty Martini Pasta recipe card and necessary ingredients included. “Giada has perfectly captured the savory, briny goodness of your favorite cocktail in a satisfying pasta,” according to the box description. “Oversized Italian olives, bright lemon-infused olive oil, fragrant wild oregano, and nodi marini pasta combine in this brand-new recipe that’s sure to become an instant classic.”
The Pioneer Woman is totally inspired. “Yes please!!!! ????” she commented on Di Laurentiis’ post. We love seeing some of our favorite chefs rallying together to support each other!
“I so want to try this. ????” someone else wrote. Another joked, “Great now I want a martini at 9 am ????” One person commented, “I am going to have to make that now.” It seriously looks so good!
