Welcome back to the soulless merry-go-round that is New York City dating, Pete! As reported in “Page Six” Tuesday, a source told the U.S. Sun that the Saturday Night Live alum and girlfriend Madelyn Cline have apparently called it quits after dating for less than a year. The anonymous source claimed the couple had “ended things fairly recently,” adding that the breakup was “amicable.” Neither representatives for Davidson nor Cline responded to requests for comment from “Page Six,” so for now, we’ll file the 30-year-old away into our “Potentially Single Famous Men” folder. Though, with a track record like Davidson’s — from Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian to Kaia Gerber and his Bodies, Bodies, Bodies costar Chase Sui Wonders — it’s entirely within the realm of possibility that he’ll bounce back for a Hot Boy Summer in no time.
Davidson and the Outer Banks actress were first spotted together in September 2023, and kept their relationship relatively low key from there on out. Of the few times they were caught by paparazzi, Cline was often onhand to support Davidson’s comedic endeavors, cheering him on during his Vegas standup show Pete Davidson Live and later ducking into Catch Steak for an SNL afterparty in New York last year. Last we heard, according to Us Weekly, the two were “very much in love” in April. It’s unclear what went wrong here — if anything — but it’s worth noting that one year seems to be Davidson’s unlucky number. He also dated Sui Wonders for a similar time frame, before moving onto Cline about a month later.
If true, perhaps Pete will take this time to reflect on his romantic tendencies and commit to a period of celibacy. It can’t hurt, right?
