“I have two older boys. They’re all different experiences,” he said. “Each one has a different mother. It’s not what I had originally thought would happen when I fell in love or got married—that I would have three different children with three different moms—but nonetheless that’s what’s happened. So every child is different.”
Nicolas has oldest son, Weston, 33, with Christina Fulton, middle son, Kal-El, 18, with ex-wife Alice Kim, and baby, August, 1, with current wife Riko Shibata.
When asked about what books or movies he is consuming recently, he admitted since the birth of his one-year-old daughter, August, he has been immersed in raising her!
“So sleep is gone,” Nicolas said. “Really what I’m trying to do is read my dialogue and memorize it.”
When the interviewer shared how a two-year-old can suck all the attention from a parent, Nicolas agreed!
“Yeah, and a girl. My first daughter—so this is all different levels of worry and protection and taking it into overdrive,” he said.
Nicolas ended with sharing how important fatherhood is to him.
“Being a dad—to me, it’s not an art form, it’s . . . How do I put this? It’s like breathing. Everything is about her,” Nicolas said. “You know, I can make a movie or not make a movie. I can’t stop being a dad. With her, it’s life. It’s my survival.”
Nicolas just attended the Los Angeles premiere of Longlegs this week alongside costar Maika Monroe.
