BE warned, egos could be running riot in the studio tonight, as the Sewing Bee reaches Diva Week.
Expect a festival of fabulous creations as the contestants dream up some eye-catching designs worthy of a pop princess.
Here are TV Mag’s six telly picks for Tuesday 9 July 2024…
The Great British Sewing Bee (9pm BBC1)
It’s the one we’ve been waiting for… Diva Week.
And it definitely doesn’t disappoint, as host Kiell Smith-Bynoe mingles while the sewers get to work on creating a Tina Turner-inspired fringed mini dress.
But with everyone bringing their A-game, only one of the contestants’ efforts can be deemed Simply The Best.
Then it’s time to make loungewear sets using animal print fabrics, before moving onto the ultimate showstopper – a costume for their favourite diva to wear on stage.
Expect everything from a dramatic metallic dress for Beyoncé, to not one, but two, wacky Lady Gaga creations.
But who will be told their time in the spotlight is up? Whoever it is, you’ll be pleased to hear there’s no diva tantrums in sight in another entertaining episode of this fun series.
The Yorkshire Vet: Wedding Bells & Cow Bells (8pm C5)
It’s all go as Shona Searson races off for an emergency calving, where a Caesarean might be the only hope to keep mum and baby safe.
Meanwhile Peter Wright comes to the aid of a sheepdog with a broken leg.
But we also see the team out of their scrubs, dressed up for a big team celebration in the Dordogne, in the south-west of France.
Super Surgeons: A Chance At Life (9pm C4)
As this ground-breaking but highly emotive series comes to a close, a pioneering robotic keyhole surgery is proposed by Consultant Oesophagogastric Surgeon Mr Asif Chaudry.
The hope is to improve the chances of giving 48-year-old Jonathan more time after his rare form of cancer spread from his abdomen to his oesophagus.
As Jonathan says: “The chance of winning the lottery is higher than getting through this.”
Mr Chaudry is keen to “push the boundaries of cancer surgery further,” but what’s best for the patient always comes first, and the angle of Jonathan’s tumour means reverting to a more conventional approach during surgery.
Our Great Yorkshire Life (7pm C5)
The prestigious Harrogate Autumn Flower Show has arrived, and florist Sarah Richardson has the very important job of arranging the showcase display in the illustrious Statue Gallery at Newby Hall.
While Sarah is used to her fair share of elaborate arrangements, she’s got the added pressure of dealing with statues that are nearly 2,000 years old!
Meanwhile, horse enthusiast and journalist Christa Ackroyd goes behind-the-scenes at the St Leger Festival in Doncaster.
Secrets Of The London Underground (8pm Yesterday)
Tonight, Tim Dunn and Siddy Holloway head to Paddington, to take an exciting peek beneath the platforms of that famous station.
A bustling transport hub, Paddington has five different tube lines running through it, the earliest built way back in the Victorian era, so there’s plenty of surprises to unearth – including some disused police cells and the old Mail Rail line, which used to transport letters and parcels beneath London to various sorting offices around the capital.
Intriguing.
Horsepower (10pm BBC4)
This four-part series provides unprecedented insight into the world of horse racing, as we join trainer Andrew Balding and his team at Park House Stables, Kingsclere in Hampshire, in the lead-up to 2021’s Royal Ascot.
Tonight, Park House’s Championship Jockey, Oisin Murphy, faces a devastating blow as his career hangs in the balance as he tests positive for drugs, shortly after winning at the 2000 Guineas.
