PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A man sitting under a tree was hit and killed by a driver in Vancouver Monday afternoon, leading to a woman being detained after officers searched the area, police said.
The incident in the 2100 block of NE Andresen Road unfolded shortly after 1 p.m. when officers were sent to the area about the man under the tree.
The man, whose name has not been released, was already dead and investigators said he may have been killed by a vehicle as he sat there.
The unoccupied vehicle was spotted nearby. Video footage police saw showed a white woman "with distinctive clothing" leaving the scene.
The woman was found nearby after a search that used a Vancouver K9. She was later identified as Luella F. Roberson.
Roberson was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide. She also had an outstanding Washington State Department of Corrections warrant, officials said.
