If you’ve spent any time on Instagram or TikTok in the past few years, you’ve likely stumbled on one of Caleb Simpson’s apartment tours. But not every tour is created equal. Over the weekend, Simpson shared a tour of Rebecca Hessel Cohen’s indulgent home, and we can’t stop thinking about it.
The LoveShackFancy founder’s home has 156 antique decorative light fixtures, pink sofas, chairs, rugs, flowers, and wallpaper scattered throughout its six floors. Oh, and a carriage house. “I’ve grown up in the city my entire life, and I never saw anything like it,” Hessel Cohen tells Simpson while opening a secret cabinet door. She adds that “There’s hidden bars on every floor.” Inside the hidden bar? An antique French chandelier.
The duo then step into an elevator with a gold-framed antique mirror and if you guessed another chandelier, great job. Hessel Cohen walks Simpson through the home’s courtyard and garden to the carriage house where her husband, entrepreneur Todd Cohen, joins them. Cohen says the carriage house was the main reason the couple purchased the property, and they gutted it before making it their own perfect party space with a partial glass ceiling and skylight.
Another stop on the tour is of the entire floor that makes up the couple’s bedroom closet and bathroom, which Cohen simply calls the “bedroom floor.” There, Cohen says the marble the doors, floors, walls, tub, and shower are made of came from one large stone in Italy. “We had to take out a window, build a platform, crane it in, and have I don’t even know how many guys” to bring in the marble tub. The tour continues through Hessel Cohen’s very pink closet and office. Of course, there is a rooftop.
“There’s really nothing like building something for people you love and your kids,” Cohen says, as his wife teases that he’s going to cry a little, but he simply adds that “Not very many people can do it, so it’s nice to be able to build that.”
