As the Barbados Coast Guards continues efforts to salvage the fishing vessels submerged in the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex, some boat owners are divided on the lifeline thrown them by Government.
While some were grateful for the helping hand announced last week by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley after the severe damage caused by Hurricane Beryl last Monday, others are doubting it will make a difference in the face of daunting costs of parts and labour.
During a press conference last Friday at Ilaro Court, Mottley said Government will work with financial institutions to establish a 30-year revolving fund to help fishermen finance new boats. This is in addition to a grant of 25 per cent of any new boat or cost of repairs. (JRN)
