DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE never forgotten being sexually abused as a child by my uncle.
It culminated in me being raped by him.
I am now a 34-year-old woman. My uncle intimidated me and told me to keep it a secret and I’ve never told anyone in my family.
He said if I told anyone, nobody would believe me and I would get into trouble.
He is my dad’s brother and used to stay with my family on a regular basis.
He was a divorcee. His wife left him years before and I can understand why.

He is a horrible man and I no longer have anything to do with him.

They encourage me to move on. They offer CBT but it hasn’t really helped.
