OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- The 4th of July celebrations are not over yet Acadiana, because right in Opelousas, the Backyard Food Truck Park is open for business and this weekend is their Freedom Mini-Fest event. So, it's time to eat.
"We have, I think, six trucks lined up. Great food. We've got great burgers, great Creole food. We got live music. We are going to open those, going to be on a stage over here," Mark Kidder, owner of The Back Yard Food Truck Park, said.
Kidder said planning for the food truck park has been in the works since the beginning of the year with their initial opening taking place at the beginning of the summer.
With the park up and running and ready to keep the good times going this Independence Day weekend, Kidder said it's rewarding to see all the hard work and planning pay off.
"Man, it's been great," Kidder said. "It's been a lot of hard work and a lot of time out here, you know, busting our butts, trying to get everything together. So, I mean, it's good to see it all come together and kind of see what the outcome is going to be, you know, see how many people we are going to have out here."
With events like the Freedom Mini-Fest marking the early stages of events at the park, Kidder said there's already plans for growth as the park continues to provide family-friendly entertainment and good eats for years to come.
"It's great. We're still working on a few things. You know, we still want to get our playground put in. We still want to have other things that kids can enjoy. And that's kind of why we're holding this event this weekend. It's something for the whole family to enjoy," Kidder said.
The Freedom Mini-Fest event is going to be going on all the way through Saturday, July 6 for anybody that wants to come out and enjoy some good music, vibes and food.
