The internet is divided on if Jack Antonoff threw some shade at Billie Eilish during a recent interview.
The 40-year-old Bleachers frontman, who frequently works with the likes of Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey, appeared on the Today Show recently, and fans are reading into a comment that he made about his songwriting process.
They wonder if it might have been a way of subtly dragging Billie over her big hit, “Lunch.”

“It’s hard to write unless you’re really compelled, and sometimes what compels you is way more serious things,” Jack said during the interview. “I never feel like… You don’t hear a lot of great songs about like, one’s lunch order.”
He continued, adding, “So the things you don’t really understand and cause you pain are usually things worth writing about.”
An account on X (formerly Twitter) shared a snippet of the interview and implied that Jack was a “weirdo” for “shading Billie.”
Some seemed to agree, rushing to share their thoughts on the topic. However, others have rushed to Jack‘s defense, pointing out that he did not mentioned the “What Was I Made For” artist by name.
Another user made a very good case for the belief, writing, “Jack antonoff is from new jersey. if he wanted to shade someone he’d do it straight up. that man genuinely just talking about a turkey sandwich or something. y’all need to relax.”
For proof, they included screenshots of four of Jack‘s tweets where he refers to Kanye West as some variation of a “b-tch.”
It’s also important to note that Billie‘s song “Lunch” is not about food. In fact, it’s about her attraction to women.

The internet also recently believed that Billie was throwing shade at Taylor when she made a comment about the length of concerts. However, she has actually vocally praised the singer for her stage shows before.
