Madonna reflected on her hospitalization last year for a horrible bacterial infection and her recovery.
In June 2023, the 65-year-old Queen of Pop was taken to the hospital shortly before she was supposed to kick off her Celebration Tour. The show was postponed to give her time to recover from the serious illness.
She triumphantly returned to the stage and completed the tour with one final, record-setting concert in Brazil this May.
In a Fourth of July post, Madonna looked back on her situation a year ago as she was just beginning to get better.

On Instagram, Madonna shared a collection of new photos, which she paired with a reflective caption.
“A year ago today, I had just come home from the hospital after surviving a life threatening illness, I could barely stand in my backyard holding one sparkler,” she wrote. “I made a miraculous recovery and had an amazing year. Thank you God. Life is beautiful! ♥️????????”
While on tour, Madonna revealed what “saved” her after the illness. A year ago, she also revealed one hugely important thing that she realized as she took time to heal.
