IT was meant to be one of the most special moments of their lives.
But one couple’s gender reveal was ruined by an “embarrassing” mother trying to get involved.
A video of the moment went viral on the Internet, with people left stunned by the older woman’s actions.
The clip showed the parents-to-be standing behind a sign which spelled out “Boy or Girl” alongside two friends.
The four people then let off the smoke cannons they were holding, with plumes of pink smoke billowing from them – indicating that they were having a girl.
The couple began jumping up and down in delight, with the man immediately heading over to pick up his baby mama excitedly.
However, in the same moment, the mother-in-law started racing towards her son for a hug, but was left hanging as he turned to clutch the mum-to-be instead.
As he carried her around the field, with the pink smoke still coming out of the cannon, the mother-in-law appeared to chase them.
When she still failed to get any attention from her son, she began dismantling the sign – taking away the ‘Boy’ and ‘or’ letters to again indicate they’re having a girl.
She then stood by, applauding, as she waited for the attention to be turned to her.
People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “I’m so happy her man didn’t let the mother in law ruin that moment!!”
“I aspire to NOT be this mum or mother in law!” another added.
“I know for sure she just went to rip the sign off because she was embarrassed he ignored her and didn’t know what to do,” a third commented.
“I’m so blessed to have a mother in law that’s not in love with my husband,” someone else wrote.
“The way the girlfriend would have watched the mother in law chase her the entire time,” another added.
“It’s like the husband noticed that she was coming and then he ran for his wife,” someone else said.
“The AUDACITY. She literally tries to hug him first.. HOW?!” another wrote.
“I don’t understand mums like this, let your son have his moment!!!!!! I could never!” someone else said.
“That had to be so embarrassing,” another commented.
“All those people stood there and watched this catastrophe happen.”
“Then she proceeds to destroy the lawn decoration!” someone else laughed.
But others defended the mother in law, with one writing: “I’m confused, it looks like she’s very happy for them!”
GENDER reveals are becoming bigger and more elaborate day by day, with people constantly thinking of different ways to up those before them.

A wrestler in pink trunks took on one in blue, with the one in pink emerging victorious – signifying that they are having a baby girl.

The Lithuanian influencer hired planes to fly in the sky as she, her fiance and their nearest and dearest watched.
The planes dropped a load of blue confetti – revealing the pair were having a boy – but people insisted it was the “most polluted” gender reveal ever.
Anonymous couple
One of the most recent jaw-dropping gender reveals happened in May 2024, when a couple decided to DYE a waterfall to reveal if they were having a boy or girl.
After the videos circulated on the social media, the public demanded for the couple to be punished, with some suggesting they should go to jail.
Others were concerned about water contamination, as the pair had used a powdered chemical known as “Blue Lagoon” into the Queima-Pe River, which feeds the waterfall.
“Which part did mother in law ruin? Cause everything looks good here,” another asked.
“She just wanted to hug the son,” a third added.
“I honestly don’t think she intended to compete – I only see pure excitement,” someone else commented.
