Walnut Corner Chair is a minimalist chair designed by Brooklyn-based studio Chen Chen & Kai Williams. In Chinese tradition, Wenwan walnuts are cherished heirlooms, passed down through generations, each acquiring a unique patina from handling, symbolizing the essence of their previous owners. This cultural heritage is echoed in a new armchair that melds American walnut wood with tubular steel, accentuated by Wenwan walnut shell finials, creating a warm and textured modern aesthetic. The chair’s design is a collaborative effort between designers Chen and Kai. Chen crafted the wood seat and two of the legs, while Kai fashioned the steel back and the remaining legs. The chair’s structural integrity depends on the union of these two halves, symbolizing the designers’ creative partnership.
