Exeter City fans are delighted with the news that the midfield maestro Ryan Woods is back at St James Park, and the Big Bank faithful couldn’t be happier. After a successful loan spell last season, Woods has now signed a two-year contract with the Grecians.
30-year-old Woods, a seasoned campaigner with over 250 appearances in the Championship, brings a wealth of experience to the Exeter City midfield. His journey has taken him from Walsall to Brentford, Stoke City to Hull City, and now back to to the red and white of Exeter.
During his loan stint at St James Park, Woods was nothing short of a revelation. His vision, passing range, and ability to dictate play transformed Exeter’s midfield dynamics. The Grecians surged up the table as City recovered from an abysmal run of form. Woods became the heartbeat of the team, orchestrating attacks and breaking up opposition play.
Gary Caldwell, Exeter City’s manager, couldn’t hide his excitement. “Woodsy was our number one target of the summer,” Caldwell declared. “He’s a big character who understands the demands of higher-level football. We saw the change he brought to our game last year, and having him back is fantastic.”
In an exclusive interview, Woods expressed his joy at rejoining Exeter City. “Last season, I rediscovered my love for football,” he revealed. “The fans, the atmosphere—it all clicked. I couldn’t wait to come back. This decision was easy.” You can see that interview in full at:-
