THE Chase star Mark Labbett’s ex-girlfriend Hayley Palmer has taken another swipe at him after their brutal split.
Presenter Hayley, 42, is claiming she’s undergoing ‘betrayal counselling’ after her ex, 58, ended their relationship over a three minute phone call last month.
The couple’s breakup came as a shock to many, especially since it came shortly after their first anniversary, which they’d celebrated with a trip to the beach in Southsea.
Jilted Hayley claimed the 6ft 7in quizzer, nicknamed The Beast, said he was ending their year-long romance because he did not want to divorce his ex-wife Katie.
Since then, she has made numerous jibes at the TV personality on social media and in press interviews while Mark maintains his silence.
Now, speaking on the My Dirty Laundry podcast, Hayley’s discussed their split once again – detailing the effect it’s had on her mental health.
She explained: “The way he did it, his voice still haunts me to this day. I’m having counselling because someone told me, ‘What you’ve had is betrayal trauma.’
“They said, ‘Have you been having flashbacks and nightmares and anxiety?’ I said, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s what I get.’ It’s just the shock to your body of it completely coming out of the blue.”
Reflecting on their final conversation, she said: “He called me and said, ‘How are you? Are you on GB News this Saturday?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m booked to go on, can’t wait’… I was telling him everything.
“And then he said, ‘Right, this is not gonna be easy to tell you, but you were right. I don’t want to get a divorce.'”
Hayley claimed she subsequently suffered a panic attack and couldn’t feel her body due to shock.
She went on to block Mark across all social media platforms.
The entertainment expert added: “I wish we could have just sat down and just said, ‘Look, this is the situation. Can we make it work? Okay, let’s stick together. Let’s put a statement out together.’
“Because it all happened and I felt completely alone. I felt really scared. I am a positive person but I couldn’t get out of bed because I felt so low.
“I thought counselling would be a weak thing to do, and it would be embarrassing. But it really helps me to know that others have gone through the same thing.
“And that I’m not alone and OK to have nightmares, it’s what happens.
“This was real love and I poured all my love into him. I put him on a pedestal – but now I’ve got to pour that love into myself instead.”
Hayley opened up about their split to The Sun too, tearfully admitting: “The call started off as a normal conversation.
“I thought he was a gentle giant, so this was the complete opposite. He was as cold as ice.
“The phone went from my hands, I just hung up on him.
“I ended up walking around for three hours not knowing where I was going.
“I’ll never get over the shock of that, I’m still in shock now.
“It’s such a hurtful way to do it.
“If he had said, ‘Can we meet up? Can we talk about things?
“This is my situation and I just don’t think it’s going to work out’, then we could have worked through it.
“Or if that’s what you really think then we could have ended on nicer terms, because we’d had such an amazing year together.
“I would have respected his decision if he’d come to me.
“The fact that he didn’t have the respect for me, and for him to do it over the phone — it was a really low move.
“I can’t get that voice out of my head — the way he said it to me.”
May 16, 2023 – The pair went on their first date to a Toby Carvery in Southsea, Portsmouth.
December 24, 2023 – The couple decided to record a podcast together after being in a relationship for several months. They planned to cover everything from Mark wooing Hayley with his Toby Carvery card to dating in the public eye, shopping trips, their big rule of not sharing chips and hilarious inside jokes.
May 25, 2024 – Mark broke up with Hayley over the phone, saying he wasn’t ready to finalise his divorce with his ex wife Katie.
