Southampton will have to push the boat if they are to agree on personal terms with Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley this summer, according to the Daily Echo.
O’Riley had a brilliant last season at Celtic and the attacking midfielder is wanted at several clubs this summer.
Atletico Madrid have a long-standing interest in him and are in a position to offer him European football next season.
Newly promoted Premier League side Southampton are keen to take him to St. Mary’s in the ongoing transfer window.
However, it has been claimed that agreeing on personal terms with the player is likely to be the major stumbling block.
With several clubs interested in him, the Dane’s wage demands are more than the amount Southampton would normally offer.
Southampton have their work cut out to agree a contract and convince him to move south of the border this summer.
Saints are banking on O’Riley’s previous relationship with manager Russell Martin from their time together at MK Dons.
They have been open about their admiration for each other and Southampton will hope Martin can convince the player to join them.
