The Supreme Court is expected to issue its highly anticipated opinion on former President Trump's claims that he has presidential immunity from criminal prosecution on its final day of releasing opinions on Monday.
Trump's appeal froze his indictment in the nation's capital, which charges him with conspiring to subvert the 2020 election results, from moving ahead toward trial.
The Supreme Court's ruling now comes less than five months before Election Day, when Trump hopes to retake the White House and again become president, giving him the authority to stop his prosecutions from proceeding and possibly firing Special Counsel Jack Smith.
The court has less than a handful of other cases it will issue opinions on Monday, most notably two cases involving a set of challenges to social media moderation.
