There are three conferences: 6A (36 teams of the biggest schools), 5A (35 teams), and 4A (57 teams). Arizona will add a fourth division in 2025.
In the 6A state championship match for 6A, Brophy Prep defeated O’Connor (25-22, 24-26, 25-22, 25-23. Brophy senior outside and Grand Canyon commit Connor Oldani led the state in kills with 543 and hitting efficiency at .522. He had 27 kills on 46 attempts in the championship match.
“I’ve never been happier. We battled so hard the entire season and lost to OC three times before this match. The feeling of finally getting over that hump is just amazing. I’m so grateful for this night and this team,” Oldani said.
In 4A, Arizona College Prep held off a big rally from Northwest Christian for 25-20, 26-24, 15-25, 20-25, 15-13 victory and the school’s first title. ACP was led by outside hitter Logan Coking and setter Kaden Wong.

There were more than 70 varsity teams and next year there will be two divisions of state championships.
Mountain Vista won the open Colorado 5A state championship against Fountain-Fort Carson 25-21, 25-23, 26-28, 30-28. Junior right side Luke Colquette had 19 kills and hit .244 on 45 attempts in the final.
The Centennial League produced four of the eight teams in the state tournament, Cherokee Trail, Littleton, Grandview, and Eaglecrest.
Defending-champion Discovery Canyon, the top seed, upset 16th-seeded Douglas County in regional play, Douglas was led by 2024 Colorado player of the year Jensen Pascua of Douglas Country. Pascua, who will set for Pepperdine, had 20 kills against Discover Canyon.

Kamehameha defeated Punahou 25-27, 25-23, 25-17, 25-20 to win the Division I state title. Punahou, the 10-time state champion, had beaten Kamehameha four times in the regular season.
Kamehameha was led by Kaiona Wade, son of Hawaii men’s coach Charlie Wade, who will play for his father. Wade recorded 34 kills and hit .342 on 76 swings in the final.

Kentucky had 43 teams competing this year, up from 10 just a few years ago, and 17 teams playing in the state championship tournament in 2024, the
last year before the KHSAA will officially sponsor the state tournament in 2025.
Louisville St. Xavier swept Lexington Paul Laurence Dunbar 25-15, 25-20, 25-19 to win it all. Senior middle Cooper Thomas led the Tigers with 11 kills and two blocks.
Sophomore Isaac Lotze had nine kills and 20 assists. Junior opposite Landon Wood put up three blocks and had kills and junior libero Dalton Lutes had 15 digs. St. Xavier, which went back to back, lost only to out-of-state teams.
Dunbar, a public school in a state dominated by private schools, was led by seniors, outside hitter Gabe Sterlitz, libero Kasen Johnston, and setter Will Harper. The Bulldogs upset Louisville Trinity in an electric reverse-sweep semifinal.

Michigan had 70 teams in 11 conferences compete this season and the MHSAA voted to add boys volleyball as a sport in the 2025-26 school year.
In Division 1, Hudsonville (36-4) won its third consecutive title by defeating Grand
Haven (46-4) in the state-championship match for the third consecutive year. Hudsonville and Grand Haven were ranked No. 1 and No. 2 all season long in Division 1.
In Division 2, Lowell (37-2) went back-to-back by defeating South Christian
(20-3) in the final for the second straight year.

In preparation of the state championships, many conferences held tournaments between high schools, including the Skyland Cup, the GMC Tournament, and the BCSL tournament.

Ohio had 124 teams competing in two divisions based on enrollment.
Cincinnati St. Xavier won the Division 1 title by sweeping Cleveland St. Ignatius (25-
10, 25-21, 25-22).
The St. Xavier Bombers finished the season ranked second nationally,
according to MaxPreps, and 22nd-year head coach Bill Ferris won his fourth state championship.
The Bombers were 27-1, losing only to Olentangy Liberty, No. 16 nationally by MaxPreps.
St. Xavier swept three-time defending state champion Archbishop Moeller in the regional finals before beating Olentangy Liberty 19-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-10 in the semifinals.
Cincinnati Archbishop McNicholas won the Division 2 state championship in five over Columbus St. Charles (21-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-15, 15-11). The McNick Rockets avenged their only two losses in Division 2, both to St. Charles, in an epic back-and-forth five-set battle to win the program’s first state title.

The Oklahoma Boys Volleyball Association (OKBVA) saw its third season culminate with the state tournament at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.
The Casady Cyclones beat the reigning champions, Storm OKC, 26-24, 25-22, 11-25, 17- 25,15-13.
Senior setter Krish Vasan’s team trailed 8-3 in the fifth. Sophomore hitters Jonah Landis and Evan Halleran had 15 kills each.
OKBVA, which moved its season from the fall to the spring, had 24 teams this year and anticipates more growth. Five programs played inaugural seasons this year, Dove Science Academy, Enid, Owasso, Southwest OKC-Trident and Wolfpack.

Pennsylvania saw 225 boys’ volleyball teams compete in 2024 in two classifications AAA and AA. While Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Lancaster, and Philadelphia are boys’ volleyball mainstays, the northeast and northwest regions of the state have experienced success in recent years.
The AAA Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state championship was a rematch of the 2023 season with the top Pittsburgh team Shaler Area meeting familiar foe Parkland from the eastern city of Allentown. Shaler Area High School was ranked first in the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association top 10 for 13 weeks and in the top 10 of the USA Today AVCA National Top 25.
Shaler revenged its 2023 loss to Parkland with a 25-21, 25-15, 25-20 victory as senior and Juniata College commit Dante Palumbo had 20 kills.
“We were hungrier. We’ve lived with the 2023 finals loss since last June
and used it as our motivation,” Palumbo said.
Parkland and coach Scott Trumbauer defeated a Pennsbury team that included Merrimack commit Nathan Knapp, and previously unbeaten and second state-ranked Central York had District 3 player of the year Lance Shaffer, to get to the title match.
In AA, Meadville High School bested Manheim Central 25-16, 18-25, 25-22, 28-26, led by sophomore and USA Volleyball U-19 team member Luc Sorenson, who had 18 kills, nine digs and two blocks. Coach Nick Bancroft, who played at Saint Francis, got his school the third in program history (1962, 2019) and its fourth appearance in the title match in the past five seasons.
Manheim Central upset top-ranked ranked Exeter High School, which included Penn State commit Gage Gabriel, 25-23, 23-25, 20-25, 25-21, 16-14 in the semifinals.

The San Diego Section had over 100 teams divided into six championship brackets, placed in divisions based off their finishes from the previous three years.
Torrey Pines won the open section 27-25, 25-23, 25-19 over Cathedral Catholic. Cristian Connell, a senior outside hitter headed to USC, had 23 kills and hit .512 on 41 attempts with only two hitting errors.
Throughout the season San Diego teams had tournaments that brought in teams from Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada and all over California.

Southern California continues to boast seven sections, multiple in-season tournaments that host high schools from all over the country and countless high school athletes committed to play college volleyball.
In Division 1, Loyola had beaten Mira Costa in all three of their previous meetings and then made it four in a row with a 25-21, 25-22, 25-21 victory. Sean Kelly, committed to play at UCLA, registered 15 kills in the championship match.
Mira Costa was without Victor Loiola, committed to play at Long Beach but out with a back injury, and Cooper Keane was traveling with the U19 USA team.

Allen High School capped off an undefeated season with its third consecutive state championship, defeating Rockwall High School in the finals. It was the Eagles fifth state title since 2018.
