TEXAS (KXAN) — Baylor Scott & White and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas announced a three-month contract extension Thursday, extending provider and facility contract services to Oct. 1.
Prior to the short-term extension, the existing contract between the two entities had been set to expire Monday. Following this latest update, any hospitals, providers or facilities under Baylor Scott & White will stay in network for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas members.
Earlier this year, a similar — albeit permanent — agreement was reached between Ascension Texas and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas following contract negotiations.
The two will continue to hash out longer-term agreements in the interim, per the Baylor Scott & White release. Statewide, Baylor Scott & White serves more than three million Texans, while Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas has roughly eight million members.
More details on the temporary agreement are available online.
