A WOMAN has hit the jackpot after a stranger used her bin to throw rubbish away.
Anastasia Keeley took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share her good fortune.
One woman struck gold after finding a stranger dumping items in her bin[/caption] She found a £300 cast-iron pot in her trash[/caption]The young woman revealed that she was taking rubbish to her outside bin when she made the discovery.
“I just took the trash out and found this in my dumpster,” she captioned the post.
The item in question? A stunning burnt orange cast-iron Le Creuset casserole pot.
The item is worth £300 to buy brand new so of course Anastasia took it back inside.
She later shared an update video of its murky inside, which she decided to try and repair.
The young woman cleaned it with a scouring pad and restored it to an almost brand new appearance.
The iconic Cast Iron Round Casserole might seem like a hefty price tag for a pot at £300, however it’s been designed to last a lifetime so you should only ever need to buy it once.
The cast iron material means it’s sturdy and top quality, and will take on flavours over the years, enhancing your cooking more and more each time you use it.
You can use it on your stove or in the oven to make cooking larger meals even easier.
Clearly Anastasia was thrilled by her find and couldn’t believe her luck.
The post on her account anastasiakeeley has since gone viral and many people took to the comments congratulating her on her find.
One person wrote: “Who on Earth would throw that out?!”
Another commented: “And they say there are no ‘free chickens’ running around in the street! Congrats, that thing looks like it’s in incredible condition.”
“The most middle class flytipping ever,” penned a third.
Le Creuset cookware is on the wishlists of many home cooks and bakers.
But the French brand’s Dutch ovens can cost between $260 and $750, and even a bread loaf pan will set you back $180.
So what warrants such hefty price tags?
Le Creuset’s Dutch ovens are among its most popular items, and they — along with several other pieces of their cookware — are made with high-quality enameled cast iron.
They’re meant to last a long time and even carry a lifetime warranty “to be free from defects in material and workmanship.”
“It’s like, do you really wanna buy a $50 piece of something over and over again, or do you wanna invest in something and know that you’re gonna have it for a long time?” Nate Collier, Le Creuset’s director of marketing and communications, said to Eater.
According to Cookware Insider, 15 quality control officers inspect each of the brand’s items before they’re sold.
Of course, they’re pretty, too, and quite the status symbol.
“You think of it as a simple piece of cookware, but even the silhouette of our Dutch oven is recognizable,” Collier said.
“You could show someone a line drawing without any color, and most people that are familiar with cookware would be able to tell you that it’s specifically a Le Creuset Dutch oven.”
Celebrity fans include Julia Child, Marilyn Monroe, Jennifer Garner, and Taylor Swift.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Reminds me of some of the things I’ve found at garage sales, someone gets married and relatives shower them w/expensive cookware. But nobody in the house can handle anything beyond microwaving a TV dinner. So, the expensive hardware sits gathering dust for a few years, then ends up dumped for pennies on the dollar, or chucked into the trash.”
“Congratulations,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “Jesus! Whats it look like inside the pot?! Anyone throwing that away is crazy af worth its weight in gold lmao.”
