New name, new owners: The Wild Horse to open in Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- What was once known as Dango's is now called The Wild Horse. After extensive renovations, the bar and restaurant at 38 Caroline Street in downtown Saratoga Springs is soon reopening under new ownership.

Lucas White and Kevin Decker, both of Siro's, bought Dango's in September 2023. Decker said the business was popular with the younger demographic and was profitable.

The new owners closed Dango's in December for renovations but it was only supposed to be closed for about a month. Decker said they soon found out the entire building had to be gutted and redone, leading them to spend $1.5 million on renovations.

The Wild Horse now includes a state-of-the-art kitchen that they moved upstairs, a dumbwaiter to bring the food down, and a VIP room with a balcony, as well as new walls, ceilings, wiring, and sprinkler systems in all the rooms.

"It's gorgeous inside," said Decker. "We should have gangbuster business. It's not your basic pub."

With the renovations, The Wild Horse will be more upscale than the sports bar it was as Dango's. The menu will have nicer foods, said Decker, and bands will be playing out on the patio. They are also hoping to get a more varied demographic into the restaurant.

As the Spa City is known for its horseracing, many would think that's where the new name The Wild Horse stems from. While "horse" definitely fits for Saratoga, Decker said the name comes from the Rolling Stones song "Wild Horses."

White and Decker are hoping to open The Wild Horse the weekend of July 4 as they are still waiting on some paperwork from the city. If not then, Decker said they will definitely be open for racing season which starts on July 11.
