BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The night sky will soon be brightened by firework displays around Western New York to celebrate Independence Day.
Here's a list of shows around the area, with most beginning at dusk unless noted.

Akron: Veteran's Park will be hosting food, vendors and fireworks at 5 p.m. on July 3. Activities such as a soap box derby, face painting, and smoke dancers will be on display at Russell Park from 10 a.m. till 8 p.m. July 4.
Bassett Park Summer Concert: Live music will be playing at Bassett Park in Amherst for Independence Day. The Erie County Wind Ensemble is set to perform at 7 p.m. on July 4 to kick off their Summer Concert Series. Admission is free, it is only asked that you bring a chair or blanket to sit on. The event will be moved to Clearfield Community Center in case of rain. You can call 716-631-7132 for more information.
Buffalo Bisons: The Buffalo Bisons are hosting their 28th annual Independence Eve Celebration starting just after 6 p.m. on July 3. The Bisons will be hosting the Rochester Red Wings followed by a concert from the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Finally, a self-proclaimed "Largest Fireworks Show of the Season" begins. Tickets start at $30.10 and can be purchased here.
Genesee Country Village and Museum: The Independence Celebration at the GCV&M in Mumford kicks off at 10 a.m. on July 4 and goes until 4 p.m. A 19th-century-style parade, a pie-eating contest and a recitation of the Declaration of the Independence will take place. Patriotic tunes will play as attendees chow down on hamburgers and hotdogs. Tickets can be purchased here starting at $20 and kids 12 and under can attend for free.
The Great Pumpkin Farm: The 4th of July Carnival at the Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence spans three days, from July 4 to the 6. Local musicians will perform every night while fireworks will take place at dusk on July 6. Carnival food including fried dough, cotton candy and candy apples will be available. Craft beer, wine, and specialty drinks will also be for sale. Admission is free and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Coupons are available on their Facebook page.
Kenney Park - Tonawanda: The Town of Tonawanda is holding a free community event on July 3 at Kenney Park. Food trucks including Lloyds and Just Pizza among others will be on site from 6 p.m. till 10:15 p.m. as fireworks fly overhead beginning at 9:30 p.m. The American Legion Band plays at 7 p.m. and their performance is expected to end at 9 p.m. More information can be found on their Facebook page. There will be no rain date for this event.
Old Falls Street Festival: The street festival in Niagara Falls will begin at noon on July 4 and will run until the evening of July 7. Hours are 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. for Thursday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Buffalo Aerial Dance will be performed along with Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam characters. The festival will be full of live music, food, and vendors. Admission is free.
Southern Tier Brewing Company: The Southern Tier Brewing Company is hosting a pre-firework party complete with food, beers, and music. The celebration begins at 11 a.m. July 4 with fireworks to follow in the evening.
