Journalist Mario Tenerani has said that Tottenham Hotspur have already submitted a sizeable proposal to sign Michael Kayode and the Premier League side would be willing to go even higher to get their hands on the Fiorentina youngster.
If you have followed Spurs Web’s coverage, you would know that a number of Italian outlets have talked up Tottenham’s interest in Kayode over the last week.
It began when TuttoMercatoWeb first reported that Spurs see parallels between the 19-year-old and Destiny Udogie and are now plotting a move for the young right-back.
Corriere Fiorentino (via Sport Witness) then claimed on Monday that Tottenham’s interest in the Italy Under-21 international is serious and that Fiorentina face a major dilemma as while they wish to hold on to the talented youngster, they also need to raise cash to offset their loses.
Tenerani has now asserted that Ange Postecoglou’s men have already offered €40m (£33.8m) for Kayode which the Viola have not accepted but he added that the Premier League side may be ready to increase their bid.
The journalist wrote in his column for Firenze Viola: “Tottenham’s pressure on Kayode could turn into a nightmare for Viola supporters. The English are serious and have significant economic possibilities.
“They started from €40m and for now Fiorentina have resisted, but if they were to go further the picture could change suddenly.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Based on the reports over the last few weeks, it feels like Tottenham are now stepping up their pursuit of a right-back, perhaps because Emerson Royal is nearing an exit.
It seems like Spurs have several irons in the fire at once, with the club appearing to have made approaches for Kayode, Archie Gray, Vanderson and Lutsharel Geertruida.
