At its height, rows and rows of commercial aircraft from around the world were stored at the Alice Springs operational base of Asia Pacific Aircraft Storage (APAS). The on-site maintenance teams and low-humidity conditions of the town in Australia’s Northern Territory were ideal for mothballed planes, and Cathay Pacific eventually placed 76 with APAS.
