BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An 18-year-old woman was arraigned on charges Sunday morning in connection with a shooting Saturday on Bailey Avenue that left a 53-year-old woman wounded, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
Police responded to the 1600 block of Bailey around 3:20 p.m., where a car had allegedly been shot at. A 13-year-old and her mother were in the car at the time and the vehicle was struck multiple times, according to police.
While officers were on scene, a second 911 call was made stating that a woman had been shot while in her home near the first report of shots fired. Police said the woman heard the shots and was standing near her front window when she was hit.
The teen, identified as Cecelia Medina of no permanent address, was apprehended on Shepard Street a short time later. A loaded Glock 17 with an extended magazine was also recovered, police said.
She was arraigned Sunday morning on the following charges:
If convicted of the highest charge, Medina faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. She is scheduled to return June 28 for a felony hearing and was held without bail.
Police said that Medina allegedly gave officers a false last name initially.
The 53-year-old woman remains at ECMC for a gunshot wound to her lower abdomen and is listed in stable condition.
