Briscoe signed to compete in Thunder on the Grand July 11th
June 20, 2024, OHSWEKEN, ON – NASCAR Cup star Chase Briscoe will race the #1 Ford in the Freshtone Brands Dirt Classic at Ohsweken Speedway July 11th.
The Mooresville, North Carolina, racer has one NASCAR Cup Series win to his credit that came in Phoenix in 2022. His impressive dirt racing resume makes him a natural to contend with Canada’s best stock car racers when they visit Ohsweken Speedway next month.
“We wanted to bring top level racing talent to draw fans to the Freshstone Dirt Classic,” said Ohsweken Speedway General Manager Clinton Geoffrey. “Chase Briscoe cut his teeth at Indiana dirt tracks, and our audience appreciates that kind of talent.”
Briscoe is a third generation racer who competed throughout the Midwest from a young age in dirt sprint cars. His rise into one of NASCAR’s most recognizable rides – the Stewart-Haas Racing #14 was brisk.
His career highlights include making the Round of 8 of the NASCAR playoffs in just his second full season cup racing. He adds his Phoenix Cup win to 11 NASCAR Xfinity Series wins, 2 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win, and it’s worth noting that one of his truck series wins came on the dirt at Eldora Speedway.
“We didn’t want just any star,” said Geoffrey. “We wanted someone passionate about dirt racing who will compete for the win. We picked the right driver.”
Briscoe will pilot a Dave Jacombs-owned car prepared by Canadian Motorsport Hall of Famer Don Thomson Jr. The combination should be potent.
Briscoe isn’t the only NASCAR star slated to compete July 11th. Perennial fan favourite Kenny Schrader was already announced as an entrant to the event. Defending race winner Treyten Lapcevich makes his only NASCAR Canada start of the year in the Freshstone Brands Dirt Classic, and added to NASCAR Canada’s already potent roster the stars are aligned for a great night of racing.
“There’s something for all race fans on Thunder on the Grand July 11th,” said Geoffrey. “The NASCAR event is always popular, but we are showcasing our two sprint car divisions as well that night.
“If you haven’t experienced sprint car racing in person this will give you a great idea of the entertainment we provide every Friday night through the summer.”
