Kim Kardashian appropriating hairstyles is nothing new — she’s done cornrows, Fulani braids, and straight-back braids. But Kim’s newest hairstyle seems to reach way back … to the founding fathers. Yes, she’s now appropriating George Washington. Well, not really. But that’s what came to mind for many when she debuted a look featuring woven braided pigtails that resemble a weave basket. The braids are intricately woven together to form a unique basket pattern. But between the color itself, which is a platinum-white color, and the bulkiness of the wig, the style doesn’t appear to be a fancy braided style. Instead, it looks like a wig from the 1800s, according to her fans in her Instagram comments. (Or something that North West would have done as a joke.)
“Founding fathers type wig,” they commented on the style, which resembles Washington’s signature white powdered wig. “What in the constitution is going on here?” one comment read, and another said, “She getting ready to write the Declaration of Independence.”
Obviously, whatever she thought she was going to give in this style, it gave the complete opposite. She did say she struggles with constitutional law in law school — it’s her “least favorite” — so perhaps channeling George Washington will help the aspiring lawyer with those struggles just a bit.
