EAST VILLAGE, Manhattan (PIX11) – A man who allegedly stabbed three people, including one fatally, in the East Village in Manhattan Sunday has been charged with murder, police said.
Alejandro Piedra, 30, of Brooklyn, is charged with one count of second-degree murder - depraved indifference and two counts of second-degree attempted murder - depraved indifference, according to the NYPD.
Piedra allegedly stabbed three people near Avenue A and East 14th Street around 5:45 p.m., police said.
A 38-year-old man was fatally stabbed in his neck, police said.
A 51-year-old woman was stabbed in her leg and a 32-year-old man was stabbed in his back, according to police. Both victims were hospitalized.
Piedra was taken into custody at the scene, police said. A weapon that police described as a “cutting instrument” was recovered at the scene.
It's unclear what led up to the incident.
