Paramount Global may not be able to come to a consensus on who should buy its company, but that doesn’t seem to affect decision-making on how much it should charge for Paramount+. Starting August 20, the streaming service will raise subscription prices for all new customers. Current subscribers who are affected by the price hike — which only applies to certain plans, for now — won’t be charged until September 20 or later, depending on their billing cycle, so budget accordingly.
Here’s what new subscribers and existing customers need to know. It’s a one-dollar increase for the Paramount+ with Showtime plan and the older Limited Commercial plan, marking up the prices to $12.99 and $7.99 per month, respectively. The Paramount+ Essential plan will see a two-dollar increase, going from $5.99 to $7.99. If you’re already a current monthly subscriber to Essential, that price change will not affect you. For now, the good news is that this increase does not apply to the annual subscription plans for Essential and the Showtime bundle. (You may recall that the last time Paramount+ hiked prices about a year ago, when they merged the app with Showtime.) Enjoy it while it lasts.
