According to TUDNRadio journalist Juan Carlos Cruz (as translated by Sport Witness), Santiago Gimenez is now nearing a switch to Tottenham Hotspur.
Over the last few months, a number of outlets have backed Gimenez to leave Feyenoord for a bigger club, with Tottenham named as one of the most likely destinations for the striker.
This claim was made most recently by GiveMeSport, who stated that the 23-year-old is Spurs’ top striker target and that the Eredivisie club are prepared to sell their marksmen for £42m this summer.
According to Cruz’s latest update, there have been movements behind the scenes over the last few days, with Gimenez now nearing a move to Spurs.
The journalist says that Feyenoord have received offers from Atletico Madrid and Spurs for the striker, with the North London club’s bid being worth more.
The Dutch club have allegedly asked the La Liga side to match Tottenham’s offer, which would be ‘complicated’ for Diego Simeone’s men to do.
Therefore, he adds that the Mexico international is now ‘very close’ to sealing a move to the Premier League outfit.
