An urgent search operation has been launched for a man reported missing in the sea off Bournemouth beach.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Dorset after reports of a person in the water this evening.
Police and rescue crews from the Coastguard and RNLI are scouring the water near Bournemouth pier.
Jet skis have been spotted in the area, while helicopters are also searching from above.
Hundreds of people have been enjoying the warm weather on the south coast beach where temperatures have hit in excess of 24°C today.
Forecasters say today has been the hottest day of the year so far.
A Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesman said: ‘HM Coastguard is currently coordinating the search for a male, following a report of a person in the water at Bournemouth beach.
‘The Poole and Southbourne Coastguard Rescue Teams, a Coastguard helicopter, Poole RNLI lifeboat and Dorset Police are currently on scene.’
