One person was injured during a shooting in Fairfield late Sunday.
The victim suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening during a shooting reported just after 10:30 p.m. on Fiske Street between Johnson Drive and Commerce Drive, according to Sgt. Evan Kaesmann of the Fairfield Police Department.
Officers responded to the area on a report of shots fired and spoke to several residents who said they were in their homes when they heard multiple “pops” that sounded like gunfire, Kaesmann said. The gunshots were followed by two vehicles being seen leaving the area in opposite directions on Fiske Street.
Officers at the scene located several shell casings and established a crime scene.
Shortly thereafter, police learned that a male arrived at Bridgeport Hospital in a private vehicle and sought treatment for a single gunshot wound, Kaesmann said. Officers and detectives responded to the hospital and confirmed the victim was injured during the shooting on Fiske Street.
Police are still investigating and are asking anyone with information to contact the Fairfield Police Department at 203-254-4800.
