A DIY-SAVVY woman has dished on her homemade hair masks.
She’s made treatments out of oats and okra, but her five-ingredient oil may give you longer tresses.
TikToker Zinny (@zinninwaogu822) filmed herself demonstrating the recipe in a viral video.
“Homemade oil for hair growth,” she wrote in the caption.
She implemented natural herbs like cloves and rosemary.
The beauty also incorporated garlic and ginger into the mix.
She completed it using olive oil to heat the four ingredients in and later strain to create a potent hair growth mask.
Herbs like rosemary have been known for the hair-growing properties.
Infusing an oil with such herbs can create a DIY product for longer tresses.
According to a study, roots like ginger have been used as East Asian medicine for hair growth.
The anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties of ginger and garlic may also promote scalp health.
Several TikTokers expressed their love for the mixture in the comments section.
“I’m trying to make my own now, but I’m concerned about the smell of ginger and garlic,” one wrote.
“Allow it to ferment for one month before you extract it for a better result,” another added.
“I have tried it and I can tell you for a fact that it worked,” said a third. “My hair increased and it also helps remove dandruff.”
“Can you apply onion to it?” another asked of the hair growth mixture.
“Yes, I forgot to add it,” Zinny replied.
“Please, how many days or minutes do you leave it before using it?” one asked, with Zinny recommending two to three days.
Zinny is clearly no stranger to DIY hacks for growing out longer hair.
She’s made several other videos with homemade recipes to nourish her tresses.
In one video, she used okra gel as a pre-treatment before shampooing, also called a “pre-poo.”
She’s produced yet another TikTok using oat water to brush through her hair.
