Tamayo Perry, a surfer, lifeguard, and Pirates of the Caribbean actor, tragically died in a shark attack.
The 49-year-old was attacked by a shark while surfing on Sunday (June 23) off the coast of Malaekahana Beach, on Oahu’s North Shore, in Hawaii.
He was pronounced dead on the scene after a jet ski brought him back to shore, the BBC reports.
Honolulu Ocean Safety acting chief Kurt Lager said in a statement, “He’s well known on the North Shore. He’s a professional surfer known worldwide. Tamayo’s personality was infectious and as much as people loved him, he loved everyone else more.”
He portrayed a pirate in the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film, and had roles in Lost, Hawaii Five-0, and Blue Crush, among other titles.
Our thoughts are with Tamayo Perry‘s friends, family, and loved ones during this time. RIP.
