Leaders from the INDIA bloc protested inside the Parliament premises against the appointment of Bhartruhari Mahtab as pro-tem speaker. Congress and other party members criticised the ruling BJP for neglecting key issues and the Dalit community. Samajwadi Party and Trinamool Congress MPs also joined the protest, accusing the Modi government of violating the Constitution. In response, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar defended Mahtab's appointment and criticised the opposition for breaching conventions.
