Location: Mt Hope
Leader: Steve Toal
Details:
This trip is a joint trip with the Western Victorian Climbing Club (WVCC). Mount Hope is a granite outcrop located to the north of Bendigo in northern Victoria. As with most of Victoria's granite crags, Mt Hope provides good climbing in winter. The cooler conditions of winter maximise friction for those delicate foot smears.
The rock is granite (10 to 50 m high), with a mix of trad and bolted climbing. A 60 m rope will get you up everything. You will need a small rack (nuts and cams) and some bolt plates if you plan on leading.
This will be a great opportunity to climb at Mt Hope and to review the Guidebook prior to the VCC publishing a new edition. It's also a great opportunity to join in a trip with the WVCC.
All intending participants must contact the VCC trip leader, Steve Toal, prior to the trip. Please send through some details about your experience and climbing gear. We will be camping nearby.
Car-pooling will be facilitated using a google spreadsheet for those who are interested. This is optional and each individual needs to make their own risk assessment regarding COVID and choosing to car-pool.
