“Slow Horses” on Apple TV+ is quickly rising to become one of the streamer’s biggest hits and it is reflected in the show’s Emmy submissions, entering it 23 times across 17 categories on the 2024 ballot. Based on the “Slough House” novel series by Mick Herron, this six-episode third season follows Jackson Lamb, portrayed by Gary Oldman, and his team of intelligence agents in Slough House when they are dragged into a conspiracy that threatens to reveal a concealed, sinister MI5 secret. The complete list of “Slow Horses” Emmy submissions for Season 3 can be seen below.
The dark comedy spy thriller has never been nominated at the Emmys for its first two seasons, but that could very well change given the many ineligibilities and empty slots for this year’s drama field. Oldman got the ball rolling when he was nominated at the Golden Globes earlier this year, and he shows up on the ballot for Best Drama Actor looking for his second Emmy nomination (his first came in 2001 for guest starring on “Friends”), with the rest of the main cast contending in the supporting races.
Showcase episodes in the technical categories are mainly the premiere “Strange Games” and the finale “Footprints,” the latter cited in six categories including for guest actor Jonathan Pryce, while the former present in four. But “Footprints” writer Will Smith and director Saul Metzstein opted for different episodes for consideration, with Metzstein instead going for the premiere and Smith competing for the third installment “Negotiating With Tigers” (also up for hairstyling), an episode revealing twists and subverting expectations, ending with a shocking death. Will “Slow Horses” finally nab some Emmy recognition?
