The president of the far-right Heritage Foundation was embarrassed on MSNBC on Saturday morning after he insisted the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Donald Trump, only to have MSNBC's Symone Sanders-Townsend pop his balloon by citing his organization's own research on voter fraud.
During his appearance on MSNBC's "The Weekend," Kevin Roberts first battled with former RNC president Michael Steele about the Project 2025 plan to dismantle the government and remake it into an authoritarian regime presided over by newly re-elected Donald Trump.
That led to a question over whether he would accept the results of the 2024 election if Donald Trump lost again.
Using a stock hedge used by Republicans, Roberts said he would if there was no "massive fraud" like in 2020.
"There was no massive fraud," Sanders-Townsend shot back
"There was election fraud, it has been documented over the years," the Heritage head claimed. "By the way, the Heritage Foundation is concerned about election fairness for decades and has been documenting this problem for a very long time."
Holding and reading from documents, the MSNBC host replied, "I believe, according to the Heritage Foundation, sir, by your count, the Heritage Foundation has done an investigation and according to your count, there have been 1513 proven instances of voter fraud across the United States since 1982."
"Yeah it is very hard to document," he replied as she emphasized "1500," and off-screen "Weekend " host Alicia Menendez could be heard giggling.
"The Democrat (sic) party is very good at fraud," he continued.
Persisting, he added, "The key thing here, which I think we would both agree on, is that we had aspire at the Heritage Foundation to seeing a poll after this election where every American believes their vote was counted. I care as deeply about someone on the political left with whom I disagree saying they have confidence in the outcome of the election instead of you. turning this into a partisan discussion, which you have done a good job of."
"It's not partisan to ask if you will accept the results of the election," the MSNBC host shot back.
