Spurs could include defender in deal to sign 18-year-old – Journalist suggests
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Dan Bardell has said that Archie Gray ticks a lot of boxes for Tottenham and suggested that the North London club could include Joe Rodon in the deal to sign the young full-back this summer.

Gray won many admirers with his impressive displays at Elland Road and the fact that the right-back has shown an ability to slot into midfield, should, in theory, make him a good fit for the inverted full-back role in Ange Postecoglou’s system.
That is perhaps Spurs are thought to be keen on securing the 18-year-old’s services, with Football.London’s Alasdair Gold stating on Monday that the Lilywhites hold a strong interest in the youngster.
However, Gold added that Tottenham will face a lot of competition for the young full-back and suggested that the Leeds academy graduate might stay put at Elland Road for one more season as he wants to continue playing regularly.
Could Spurs swap Joe Rodon for Archie Gray?
Bardell has said that he would not be surprised if Postecoglou’s men pushed ahead with an offer for Gray, suggesting that they could include Rodon in the deal on the back of the centre-back’s loan spell at Elland Road.
When asked about Tottenham’s interest in the right-back, Bardell told Tottenham News: “It’s a deal that would make sense. I think we’re going to see these sorts of untraditional swaps this window with clubs looking to manipulate the market.
“Archie Gray feels like a player that would suit Tottenham and suit Ange Postecoglou. That would leave Skipp surplus to requirements, he’s not first choice anyway and Gray coming in would put him further down the pecking order.
“He’s a player that needs a fresh start. Obviously, Rodon was there last season and they would take him back. If they helped get Tottenham closer to a move for Archie Gray then that would be a superb piece of business.”

Bardell is right in saying that Tottenham do have a trump card on their hands in the form of Rodon but any deal for Gray would ultimately depend on whether the player wants the move.
At the moment, it sounds like the right-back wants another year of regular football under his belt before making the step up to a bigger club.
