A CLEANING whizz has cracked the code to fresh-smelling clothes.
She said she uses a specific detergent on troublesome pieces, including activewear and heavy soiling like dog urine.
Redditor Material-double3268 dished the details in a comment on the social media platform.
She said that using her go-to cleaner for tough jobs changed her laundry game.
The mom specified that she doesn’t always use it, but it comes in handy for smellier clothes.
She recommended using it on stubborn odors locked into laundry.
She revealed that she adds an enzymatic cleaner in the washing machine in lieu of regular detergent.
“Odoban has an enzymatic cleaner that I have added to laundry, but there are others out there, too,” she said.
“If that doesn’t work then I would try adding Odoban’s disinfectant to the wash or maybe some Angry Orange odor remover.”
Odoban Disinfectant Concentrate and Odor Eliminator is sold for $19.99 on Amazon.
Angry Orange Odor Eliminator is also on Amazon for slightly less at $17.96.
“Also, use warm or hot water for body odor,” she added.
“It’s been my experience that cold water doesn’t really cut it when it comes to major body odor problems on fabric.
“My workout clothes will reek if I don’t wash them in warm water with and enzymatic cleaner.”
She recommended yet another detergent she uses for unpleasant smells.
“I use Dropp’s Laundry Pods,” she said.
Dropp’s Laundry Pods are available from their website and sold for $26 for a one time purchase, with a 25% discount on a subscription.
“They can be kind of pricey but they work really well.
“The company has an ‘activewear’ laundry pod that has enzymatic cleaner in with the detergent in the pod.
“I don’t use the activewear pods to wash everything, but I do use them on smelly laundry, like kid pee or dog pee blankets.”
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), enzyme cleaners work by attacking the source of the smell.
The formulations specifically neutralize tough odors coming from potentially stinky sources like bodily fluids.
