Mixed-use project proposed for 43-acre site near Ohio University's Dublin campus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A 43-acre site near Ohio University's Dublin campus could soon be home to a sprawling 28-building development with apartments, hotels, offices, shops and more.

Seattle-based design firm NBBJ's proposal calls for the development, named "Cosgray Commons," to be built on the vacant 43-acre property southwest of the State Route 161 and University Boulevard roundabout. If constructed, Cosgray would sit directly to the west of Ohio University's Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and Integrated Education Center.

NBBJ's proposals include apartment complexes, hotels, mixed-use office and retail space, parking garages and townhomes across 28 buildings. The site would be organized by a network of new streets, with several open green spaces.

Dublin's planning commission will provide feedback on the proposed development during a meeting on Thursday. The informal review will be the first step of several the design firm will need to undergo before receiving final approval and construction can begin.

Cosgray is one of several proposed developments moving through Dublin's approval process, including "Irish Village," another mixed-use proposal that would sit next to Ballantrae Community Park. The village is being proposed by Stavroff Land and Development, the same developer suing the city of Dublin and alleging private property rights were violated when its shopping district overhaul was rejected.

Another vacant Dublin site sandwiched between office buildings could soon see construction on a mixed-use development with a five-story apartment building, retail, a restaurant and a dog park. Plans call for the development to be built on a 16-acre site at the northeast corner of Emerald Parkway and Woerner Temple Road owned by VanTrust Real Estate.

Developers are also proposing a series of apartment buildings on 18.9 vacant acres on Blazer Parkway, between Metro Center and the Blazer Research District. The conceptual plan calls for six residential buildings totaling 330 units, an increase of 30 units from the initial submittal to the planning and zoning commission.
