Marjorie Taylor Greene moves to 'rescind' subpoenas for Trump pals despite convictions

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) came out in support of a plan to "rescind" subpoenas for Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro — even though it would not likely have any impact their prison sentences.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) first floated the idea of having Congress vote to revoke the subpoenas for the two Trump advisers earlier this month. The Jan. 6 Committee subpoenaed the men in connection to the attack on the U.S. Capitol after Trump lost the 2020 presidential election.

"I fully support and am co-sponsoring @RepThomasMassie's resolution to rescind the subpoenas for Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro by repudiating Nancy Pelosi's illegitimate J6 committee," Greene wrote on Tuesday.

Greene claimed Pelosi, the former Speaker of the House, violated House rules by refusing to let the subjects of the Jan. 6 investigation, Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jim Banks (R-IN), join the committee.

"Nancy Pelosi violated House rules by refusing to accept McCarthy's appointed Republicans on the committee," Greene said. "Now, our Republican-led House must nullify any actions taken by the illegitimate J6 committee."

"We must also hold the J6 Committee members accountable for the destruction of the committee's records," she added. "House Republicans need to start taking action!"

Navarro is currently serving a four-month prison sentence after being convicted of contempt of Congress for ignoring his subpoena. Bannon is expected to begin serving his prison sentence on July 1.
