News and Notes for Sunday, June 16th, 2024
The Guardians had a clunker in Toronto yesterday, getting shutout 5-0 by the Blue Jays bullpen, 30th in FIP in MLB entering this series.
Congratulations to José Ramirez and his partner as José hit the paternity list for the arrival of their second child. Johnathan Rodriguez rejoins the team in his absence.
Sans Jose, the Guardians' lineup struggled, but also has some bad luck as 7 of their 10 balls hit over 95 mph were outs. Unfortunately, David Fry is not Barry Bonds and neither is Daniel Schneemann, but both still look like valuable players.
Carlos Carrasco is probably not a major league starter anymore but I don't think Gavin Williams or Joey Cantillo are quite ready to take his spot. The Guardians may want to give Xzavion Curry a spin for a week or two before the feel-good Cookie story sours.
The Tigers and Royals won and the Twins were postponed.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! Hope the Guardians find a way to win a series and make the day a little more special for each of you.
