One dead and multiple injured after knifeman crashes Euros party

One person is dead and three are injured after a knifeman attacked a football party in Germany.

The unnamed man stabbed someone in a housing estate in Magdeburg, Germany, before breaking into a private Euros viewing party nearby.

Police were called last night around 9.30pm, and were also attacked by the knifeman before he was shot and died of his injuries in hospital.

Nothing is known of the perpetrator or the victim yet.

The man had also reportedly threatened people at a small garden nearby, who called the authorities.

Police have already tightened security measures and been on high alert ahead of this year’s Euros in Germany.

Fans will be randomly checked for weapons and booze at the gates of stadiums, as more than 300,000 British fans are expected to travel to the venue for this year’s competition.

Any hooligans who breach German public order laws could be taken to ATMs to pay fines on the spot, police said.

Germany’s interior minister, Nancy Faeser, said everything is being done to ensure the event is safe: ‘You can never 100% guarantee security but we are well-prepared and remain very vigilant.’

But worries of knife crime in Germany have been on the rise, after a police officer was stabbed multiple times during a political rally last month and died.

Multiple people were wounded during Friday’s rampage in Mannheim, which was live-streamed on YouTube.

The attack unfolded ahead of an event set up by Citizens’ Movement Pax Europa (BPE) – a group that advocated against Europe’s ‘Islamisation’.

Footage shows the suspect brandishing a long blade and stabbing the attendees indiscriminately.
