Norman Police Department begin trespass enforcement program for community protection
NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) — The Norman Police Department announced they will be initiating a Trespass Enforcement Authorization Agreement to help better protect the community and people's property.
The program will allow property owners to give Norman PD the authorization to enforce trespassing laws on behalf of the property owner, even when the owner is not around.
Property owners will have to sign an agreement that grants Norman PD the authority to act on the owners behalf.
Police will then be able to address and cite any unauthorized individuals that are on the property.
Property owners who are interested will have to:
- Complete the Trespass Enforcement Authorization Form.
- Attach a copy of a map that shows the property boundary of the subject property and the proposed location of where on the property the signage will be placed.
- Attach a copy of the property's current deed, lease, or other document that shows evidence of ownership or control of the property.
- Bring the completed form and attachments to the Norman Police Department Records Division. A notary is available onsite.
- Property owners will have to post designated signage on the property which can be purchased at the Norman Police Department Records Division. Each sign is $20.
